The Straight Path
Are you like our father Ibrahim ?
When three men came to his dwelling,
Ibrahim could see who they really were
--angels in disguise.
So even though his wife laughed like a kafir (dis-believer),
our father Ibrahim
opened his heart
to their message.
Ibrahim not only recognized the truth
but he also fearlessly welcomed it.
The Sacrifice
“The moment when the blood of the sacrifice falls on the ground, the person who brings the sacrifice will be forgiven. Whoever sacrifices as a good deed, will be through this sacrifice kept safe from the fires of hell” (Ref. Kurban ve Faziletleri, Feridun Yılmaz Yüceler, 1985, s.10-11). There lies the hope of being forgiven of sins and future paradise.
But can an animal’s blood be the price for the forgiveness of our sins? Or does the sacrifice of an animal mean the sign that points to a greater truth?
